Good evening Mark Twain families,

This is Dr. Ford calling with updates and announcements.  This week we celebrated the 50th day of school with Spirit Week and a kindness activity for students.  Please remind your student of the importance of being kind to each other, using kind language and behavior at all times and following the three B’s - your child should be able to tell you what these are.

Looking to the week ahead, on Friday, October 30th staff and students will celebrate Halloween.  Although students are allowed to wear costumes, LAUSD has a strict policy that must be followed and all costumes must fall within the boundaries of our school dress code.  Please see the attached for more information.  We also recommend that students wear costumes that are classroom and weather appropriate; to ensure they can still actively engage in their classes.  Please note this is a regular school day with the usual start and end times.

A friendly reminder regarding our Mark Twain dress code, please check your child’s agenda planner for more information.  We also mandate that students dress for PE, which is something that has been noticeably lacking for some students in recent weeks.  Our PE uniform is available for purchase at the student store, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and alternate Fridays so you can send your child with money or purchase after school on these days.  Alternatively, we ask that students wear navy blue shorts and a grey shirt with appropriate footwear for physical education.

Please continue to check our school website and calendar for upcoming events and important dates.

Thank you as always for your continued support and collaboration.  Take care, have a great rest of your evening and a wonderful weekend.
